Orange oil is used to treat the common cold and influenza (flu), a fruit that belongs to the Rutaceae family and have a shelf life of up to six months. Native to China, orange oil contains carminative, diuretic, antiseptic, antidepressant and anti inflammatory properties and also act as a sedative and a powerful tonic especially for the skin.

Many people use it in salad dressings, sauces and marinades. Orange oil is extracted from the small glands found in the orange peel and is being removed by steam distillation or cold pressing.
With regards to skin treatment orange oil can be rubbed on the skin twice daily for a radiant looking skin and as a massage oil to relieve all the tension of a stressful day, can be added to the temple area to relieve headache too. Orange oil is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals which are essential for our health and well being. This marvelous oil can be applied on the skin to even ward off mosquitoes or other flying insects, a few drops of the oil in water can be a good household cleaning agent.
When applying to the skin, it must be used in moderation as it can irritate the skin, but nevertheless it is a good oil to have around the house.
